More than 300,000 unfilled cybersecurity jobs in the United states, more than 2 million globally, and nearly 7,000 unfilled openings in states like Ohio. In spite of the fact that cybersecurity jobs are amongst the highest paid and most fulfilling. Cybersecurity is a creative career. We have to be more creative in the way we attract students to it.
AN ARMY OF FOSTER YOUTH DESPERATE TO SHOW THEIR WORTH COULD BE THE ANSWER.
Nearly 2,000 children age out of the US foster care system every 30 days, and 20% of those children will become instantly homeless. 7 out of 10 girls who age out of the foster care system will become pregnant before the age of 21.
Only 6% of kids who age out of the system will attend an institution of higher learning and only half of those will be able to graduate with a degree.
About 1 in 4 kids who age out of the system will not graduate from high school or be able to pass their GED, and there is less than a 3% chance for children who have aged out of foster care to earn a college degree at any point in their life.
Nearly 400,000 children in the U.S. are living in the foster care system without permanent families, and yet the number of these foster kids who are eligible for adoption, on average, every year is only around 100,000.
